What is a Mantrap?
Isabel is a Marketing Specialist at DGA.
A mantrap, also known as an interlock, is a sophisticated security entrance system designed to enhance safety and regulate access. It consists of a small, enclosed space equipped with two sets of doors. These doors are equipped with a control system designed to allow only one door to be open at a time, ensuring strict access control. This configuration is crucial for maintaining strict access control, preventing unauthorized entry, and enhancing security measures in sensitive areas.
In environments such as clean rooms, where contamination control is paramount, a mantrap is particularly essential. Clean rooms typically feature an entry vestibule with a two-door mantrap system. This system is designed to operate in such a way that the door leading into the clean room cannot be opened until the door to the vestibule is fully closed. Conversely, the vestibule door remains locked until the door to the clean room is securely shut.
