What is a Hot Stamp?
Isabel is a Marketing Specialist at DGA.
A hot stamp is the unique identification number printed on access cards, fobs, or tags used in access control systems. This number is physically stamped onto the credential during the manufacturing process using heat and pressure, which is where the term "hot stamp" originates.
The hot stamp is directly tied to the access credential’s unique ID number stored within the access control system. Hot stamps provide a simple yet effective way to visually identify a card or fob’s unique number, which can be useful for administrative tasks such as assigning credentials, troubleshooting issues, or replacing lost items. Additionally, they are often used by organizations to streamline inventory management, as the stamped number makes it easy to track individual credentials.
