An automatic door opener is an electric-powered device that can open or close the door after receiving a signal from an access control system. This system enhances convenience and accessibility while maintaining security by integrating with an access control system.

When a person presents an authorized access credential, such as a keycard or fob, to the reader, the automatic door opener activates, opening the door for a predetermined period (typically 5–10 seconds) before closing it again. For exiting, a touchless egress button located near the door allows users to wave their hand, triggering the door to open automatically.

Automatic door openers also have a built-in safety system. Sensors embedded in the device detect obstructions in the path of the door. If an object or person is in the way, the system halts the door’s movement, preventing accidents or injuries.

Automatic door openers are especially useful in high-traffic areas, facilities prioritizing accessibility, or locations requiring frequent entry and exit. They strike the perfect balance between security, safety, and ease of use.
